City Council
The City
Council comprises four Councilmembers and
a separately elected Mayor. The City Council establishes
local laws, sets policy, approves programs and appropriates
funds. As elected representatives of the citizens, the
City Council is responsible to all of the people and
makes decisions in the best interest of the public as
a whole. Each Councilmember and the Mayor are elected
to overlapping four year terms.
The City Council also serves as the
Redevelopment Agency Board and the Board of Directors
for the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection District (a
subsidiary district of the City). The City Council meets
on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at City
Hall to discuss and vote on issues facing the City and
its residents. In addition the City Council is responsible
for appointing the City Manager, City Attorney and certain
boards and commissions.
